Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt together butter and brown sugar. Stir in maple syrup if using. Pour this mixture into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
